Ana Brasão completed her PhD in Economics in 2000 and her Bachelor's degree in Economics in 1993, both at NOVA School of Business and Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

She is an Associate Professor at the School of Economic Sciences and Organizations, Universidade Lusófona, where she also serves as President of the Pedagogical Council, Director of the School of Economic Sciences and Organizations, Director of the Master's Programme in Economics, and Director of the Bachelor's Degree in Economics. She is also a Researcher at INTREPID Lab – Research for Business and Society, Universidade Lusófona.

Her publication record includes 9 journal articles and 2 book chapters. She has organized 22 scientific events, participated in 2 scientific events, co-supervised one undergraduate dissertation, and participated as a PhD Student Fellow in one research project. Throughout her academic career, she has co-authored scientific publications with 22 collaborators.

Her main research topics include sustainability, environmental economics, groundwater management, renewable energy, foreign direct investment, financial literacy, behavioural regulation, vector autoregressive models, Granger causality, ecotourism, tourism development, fisheries management, blue economy, single-use plastics, environmental impact, taxation, corporate finance, education, online learning, coaching, citizenship, and the socioeconomic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
