António Augusto Teixeira da Costa holds a PhD in Economics from Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2005), a Master's degree in Economics from the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG), University of Lisbon (1995), a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa (1989), and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Higher Institute of Engineering of Lisbon (ISEL), Polytechnic University of Lisbon (1979).

His scientific output includes five peer-reviewed journal articles and one book chapter. He has organized three scientific events and participated in one scientific event.

His main research topics include economics, business management, health management, healthcare services, pharmaceutical management, public management, local development, human resource management, organizational behaviour, leadership, quality management, hospital management, political science, governance, public policy, entrepreneurship, international trade, project management, information and communication technologies, sustainable development, economic growth, human capital, innovation, structural equation modelling, and health policy.
