João Marôco holds a PhD from Washington State University and is Full Professor at Lusófona University, where he teaches Statistics, Research Methods, and Advanced Data Analysis Techniques. He has collaborated as a consultant in the field of Educational Statistics, including with the World Bank and the Teresa and Alexandre Soares dos Santos Education Initiative.
His research focuses on statistical analysis methodologies, psychometrics, structural equation modelling, regression analysis, and the development and validation of measurement scales. His work applies advanced quantitative methods to research areas within the biological, health, social, and human sciences, including topics such as student assessment, engagement, and burnout.
Between 2014 and 2018, he served on the Board of Directors of IAVE, I.P., contributing to the coordination of large-scale educational assessment studies, including PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS, ICILS, and the e-Assessment pilot project. He has delivered workshops and lectures on Statistical Analysis, Psychometrics, and Structural Equation Modelling at universities in Portugal and internationally.
João Marôco has authored more than 450 scientific publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and has written four books on Statistical Analysis, Structural Equation Modelling, and Psychometric Evaluation. His scientific work has received significant international recognition, with a high number of citations and inclusion in international rankings of highly cited researchers.
