João Pedro Valente da Silva Africano Portugal

João Pedro Valente da Silva Africano holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Algarve (2023), a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing from the European University (2014), and a Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communication from the Miguel Torga Higher Institute (2012). He is currently Assistant Professor at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Higher Institute (ISMAT) and a trainer in communication and marketing at the Tourism of Portugal schools.
His research focuses on Communication and Tourism Marketing, particularly on topics related to consumer behaviour, trust, commitment, and motivations in tourism contexts. More recently, his work has explored the application of artificial intelligence tools in the tourism and hospitality ecosystem, including international research initiatives in this area.
He is an integrated member of CIDEHUS – Interdisciplinary Centre for History, Cultures and Societies, and a collaborating member of CiTUR – Centre for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism and INTREPID Lab – Research for Business and Society (CETRAD). He has participated in research and development projects and has contributed to scientific activities in the fields of tourism, communication, marketing, and digital transformation.
