Mónica Alexandra Vidal Teixeira is Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona and a researcher at INTREPID Lab – Research for Business and Society, part of CETRAD – Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies. She teaches in the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and in the Master’s Degree in Social Gerontology, with a focus on the quality of gerontological programmes and services.
She holds a PhD in Gerontology from the University of Aveiro/Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, a Master’s degree in Gerontology from the University of Aveiro, a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Miguel Torga Higher Institute, and a Specialist Title in Social Work and Guidance from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. She is currently pursuing an Interuniversity PhD in Social Work at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra and the Catholic University of Lisbon.
Her academic and professional path combines teaching, research and extensive practice in the social sector. She has teaching experience in higher education institutions, including the Higher Institute of Social Work in Porto and the University of Aveiro, particularly in the areas of Social Gerontology and Gerontology. Between 1998 and 2021, she also developed professional activities in Technical Direction and Social Work roles within Private Institutions of Social Solidarity.
Her research focuses on Social Work, Gerontology and Ageing Studies, with particular interest in ageing processes, quality of gerontological programmes and services, and social intervention with older populations. Through her interdisciplinary approach, Mónica Alexandra Vidal Teixeira contributes to the study of social responses and practices that support ageing and social well-being.
