I'm Gina Santos, and I have a PhD in Management from the University of Beira Interior. My research focused on entrepreneurship and strategy in women-led businesses. This journey taught me invaluable lessons and paved the way for understanding success in women's entrepreneurship. My Master's in Management, pursued at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, allowed me to delve into the distinct profiles of women entrepreneurs, researching their motivations and the dual roles they cross as professionals and family members. My initial degree in Portuguese-English was driven by my passion for teaching and sharing knowledge. My career began as a trainer in a UTAD-sponsored project, enhancing the educational use of the Internet in primary schools. For seven years, I was vice-coordinator of projects on the use of the Internet in schools and the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region community. My tenure at UTAD also included advisory positions and coordinating the Student Centre, offering me deep insights into the challenges faced by higher education students, especially during the pandemic. In 2022, I embraced the opportunity to teach in management at Lusofona University, Porto, also directing the Master's program in Management. As a researcher, I am a member of INTREPID's research centre, a branch of CETRAD unit research. I have published scientific articles in indexed management journals on Entrepreneurial Intention, Effectuation, Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Orientation, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Migrant Workers, Self-Employment, and Ethnic Business. My recent engagement with the Portuguese Cancer League represents a new venture into volunteering and supporting those battling cancer and their families, underscoring my commitment to making a difference in the community.
