Gina Santos holds a PhD in Management from the University of Beira Interior, where her research focused on entrepreneurship and strategy in women-led businesses. She also holds a Master's degree in Management from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, where she studied the profiles, motivations, and professional and family challenges experienced by women entrepreneurs, and a Bachelor's degree in Portuguese-English.

Her professional career began as a trainer in a project supported by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) focused on promoting the educational use of the Internet in primary schools. She subsequently served as Vice-Coordinator of projects related to digital education and community development in the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region and held advisory and coordination roles at UTAD, including the coordination of the Student Centre.

Since 2022, she has been an Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona – University Centre of Porto, where she teaches in the field of management and serves as Director of the Master's Degree in Management. She is a researcher at INTREPID Lab, a research centre integrated into CETRAD – Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies.

Her scientific output includes articles published in indexed management journals.

Her main research topics include entrepreneurship, women's entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial intention, entrepreneurial orientation, effectuation, corporate entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), migrant entrepreneurship, self-employment, ethnic businesses, and management.
